Thank you to the 7000 plus people who supported the Save Our Station (SOS) campaign and made it very clear that the Malabar Police station must stay.
Congratulations, we did it!
This is great news for the local communities of the south ward and proves that an engaged community can motivate our local elected representatives to make the right decision for their constituents. Thank you, Mr Michael Daley, our Local MP for returning the police station back to the people. It is the right decision!
At this stage, I believe, Malabar Police Station will accommodate a strike force with detectives dealing with domestic violence. An emergency phone will also be placed at the property for people to make immediate contact with police.
While this is a step in the right direction, the community still desire the NSW Flag and the Police Sign to be placed out the front of the station to identify and reassure locals that their safety and security are taken seriously. The growth in local residential development and visitors, plus continuing criminal behaviours and activities proves that there is a real and expected need for a local, fully operational police station that ensures prompt response times.
Mr Daley, please put back the Police sign out the front of the station.
We can all help by being involved. Make Matraville a better, safer place for all.
Carlos da Rocha
Chairman – Matraville Precinct
