Trucks & Traffic
The number of trucks travellling along Bunnerong Road, through the centre of our village and our local streets, is a major concern for Matraville residents and businesses. Below is a gallery of images highlighting to our local representatives that this truck activity is dangerous and disruptive to our village. Send your photos to matprecinct@gmail.com

The 12.5m restrictions have been in place now for over a week. Initally after the first few days of peace the trucks are back in force. I have seen semi trailers as bold as to park adjacent to the horse paddock without fear. Additionally, PJM trucks clearly don’t think these rules apply to them. It is apparent that word has got around that the authorities are reluctant to enforce any of these restrictions. If the local police or Council were to bother to position themselves on Bunnerong Road during the early morning and late afternoon periods they wouldn’t have to look to far to complete their “daley” quota. Whats the point of placing sign boards and lighted message signs if the authorities refuse to enforce them.
I to have seen the semi trailers and Bogy trucks with trailers longer that 12.5 meters travelling along Bunnerong Road at first I thought the drivers were doing deliveries to the area but it has become clear that this is not the case. Many people have said that how do we establish if the drivers are making deliveries or just taking a short cut. Others have said that due to delays getting into the ports container yards that drivers just drive around the nearby area waiting for their turn to get into the yards. Now that the signs are in place I have no doubt that this will be enforced, I will put in a request that at our next precinct meeting we write to our Local MP Michael Daley,RTA, Police, Council and ask how this will be enforced. Speaking with locals around the area and local coffee shops it seems that there has been an inprovement but more needs to be done to ensure truck drivers comply. Carlos
The truck drivers are now using Beauchamp Road as a detour… we now have large trucks speeding along a residential street to avoid the size restrictions on Bunnerong Road.
I live on this street and prior to the restrictions hardly any trucks used this road.
All the restrictions have done is shift the traffic…
