Australia Post services
Matraville’s post office was closed without consultation in May 2010. At the time it was rumoured that the new Peninsula development, on the site of our old post office and which includes 111 units, a supermarket and eight specialty shops, once completed would accommodate our post office. Australia Post however determined this to be an unsuitable arrangement for them and instead has closed both Eastgardens and Matraville post offices and situated a new ‘customer service focused’ post office in Hillsdale, located on a busy bend of a six-lane road with limited parking.
Matraville has seven proposed multi-storey residential developments likely to be completed by mid 2012. This will impact significantly on our town’s population and the need for essential services.
